Our Staff
Teachers are the single most important factor in a successful education. For this reason, we are discerning about the kind of teachers we have at Barnstable. We look for teachers who are able to balance structure and guidance, curriculum and creativity, and academic productivity and the ability to nurture. They need to be the kind of people who genuinely enjoy working with students and can maintain a sense of humor and goodwill while providing leadership worthy of a student's respect.
Class size also comes into play at Barnstable. We maintain an average of 10 students in each class. This allows teachers to know students individually and evolve approaches to their particular needs.
Regular faculty meetings and in-service training are an important part of our own ongoing education. Experts from a variety of fields are invited to sharpen teaching skills and heighten awareness of recent developments in education. We are committed to being on the cutting edge of academic research and understanding. No matter what a teacher's strengths may be, there is always room for growth.
