Safe Environment
Some of our students were teased or bullied at previous schools, and they know how it feels to “just want to be liked” by their peers. Because of this, our school has developed a strong culture of acceptance. Friendships defy the boundaries of grade, gender, race, and interests. Teasing is not tolerated. Coupled with our strong anti-bullying policies, Barnstable Academy has become a safe haven for our students.

Personalized Approach
With class sizes that average just 10 students, we can provide a higher level of dedicated attention and support. Our teachers recognize and address students' individual strengths and weaknesses, as well as provide additional academic support to those that are struggling.
Specialized Programs
We build valuable life and study skills into the curriculum, giving students the tools they need to thrive both personally and academically.
For students who struggle with reading, we offer our supplementary Accent Reading Program, a program designed to help those students find success in college-prep courses.

Complete School Experience
Of course academics are an integral part of Barnstable Academy, but we also want our students to have a well-rounded school experience that they can look back on fondly for years to come. Our school may be small, but there are many opportunities for students to join one of Barnstable’s athletic teams, act in a play, explore their creativity in art, and even challenge themselves in our war strategies club.

Focus for Learning
Students receive breaks throughout the school day to socialize and play in our game room. This is a chance for them to form new friendships and release their pent-up energy so that they can properly focus in the classroom.
We even schedule our core academic classes in the morning when students are most focused, and leave the afternoon for the clubs, sports, and enrichment classes—an ideal arrangement for students with ADHD or unique scheduling demands.

College-Prep Curriculum
Our curriculum isn’t watered down or targeted to meet the middle of the class. We offer a rigorous, college-prep education with instruction in English, Math, Science, History, World Languages, and Computer Applications, as well as electives in Physical Education and Health, Performing and Fine Arts, School Newspaper, Yearbook, and more.
