There are reasons why the very students who struggle at large public schools thrive at Barnstable Academy. The first is our philosophy: We believe that fostering a young person's self-esteem furthers his or her potential for academic success. Instead of asking a student to conform, we celebrate each one as an individual. The second is our capacity. Our small class sizes allow us to do what other schools cannot. We cater to each student's individual learning style, providing the kind of instruction, and level of attention, that is needed.

At Barnstable, we develop a cycle of progress. Our students feel more secure, so they learn better. This leads to better results, which in turn helps students feel more content and connected - which leads to further success.

Over the years, nearly 90 percent of the Barnstable graduates have gone on to four-year colleges and universities and another 5 percent have gone on to two-year programs.
