Welcome to my assignment page.
All students should be doing 10+ minutes of Algebra 1 review per night.
Homework policy: We are checking homework REGULARLY now. Rule 1: no excuses (please). Rule 2: If you miss a day, you can bring it in the next day (up to 3 days) for half credit. If you do the wrong assignment (in good faith) you will receive full homework credit.
Remember homework is practice: it need not be all right for full credit.
Reminder: 3 journal entries (minimum) per week. Journals are 10% of the grade. The ideal journal will have information, reflection, insight, analysis (action plan) and follow up.
Journal Example 1: Day 1 today we did our first proof.(information) I am very confused.(reflection). Day 3 We did proofs again today. I understand the procedures now, but I can't seem to "see" that key step.(insight). Day 4 I asked the teacher how to "see" the key step in proofs. He said to make sure I know the theorems well and practice one proof per day. So I will spend a half hour reviewing the theorems on Sunday. (analysis and action plan). Day 11: I spent 10 minutes per day this week doing an extra proof while waiting for the car ride home.(follow up) I am getting it. I will spend the 10 minutes on History this coming week.
Journal Example 2: This week we covered Linear Programming.(information). It is an interesting problem type. I can see that it could be helpful for a situation with inherent restraints (like a factory). But, without "unlimited" resources, such as a very large company, I think it would not apply. (analysis).
Journal Example 3: Now I see how to apply the math we did last year to ...
