
Education Specialist, Dr. Walt Karniski Visited Barnstable
Dr. Walt Karniski's presention "ADHD Rarely Dances Alone" held on Wednesday, December 8th was well received by all those who attended. Parents, teachers, School Psychologists, Educational Consultants, and local school administrators as well as the Barnstable Academy community enjoyed the insightful presentation that described school anxiety, executive function difficutlies, and medication treatment and how they impact ADHD.

ABOUT DR. KARNISKI
Dr. Karniski has more than 30 years experience in pediatrics, child development, and child advocacy. A board certified Developmental Pediatrician, he has published numerous articles and papers in the field. Following his initial training with Dr. Mel Levine at the Children's Hospital in Boston, Dr. Karniski became the Director of Child Development at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, and then the Director of the Division of Child Development at the University of South Florida's College of Medicine until 1993. In 1997, he established the Florida's Children's Center, a multi-disciplinary program for the evaluation and treatment of children with Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder.
As Executive Director with the American Education Group, Dr. Karniski took the education model of Tampa Day School to open Lexis Preparatory Schools in Scottsdale, Arizona and in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the founding director of Tampa Day School as well as the Bowman Academy and Keystone Preparatory School, a high school for students with atypical learning styles.
