Performing Arts
Barnstable Academy's Performing Arts program offers academic study and training in acting, singing, dance and music.
It is necessary that students possess a desire to grow, work and succeed. Energy, enthusiasm and concentration are required, since this program is a serious undertaking.
First-class training in the arts cannot be given without the insights and knowledge of strong, but sensitive, teachers. Our performing-arts teachers offer powerful examples of creativity and dedication. Their commitment does not end when class is over. They maintain a close, ongoing relationship with every student.
At Barnstable, students not only learn their craft, they have opportunities to apply their growing skills and talents in theatrical production, cable TV shows, touring and road shows, cabaret shows and cabaret nights.
Internship Performing Art students who are enrolled in Julliard's School of Music, The School of Rock, or other approved programs can receive high school credit toward their New Jersey State Diploma.

Barnstable offers Performing Arts as a four-day elective. Students rehearse in an on-site studio, equipped with mirrors, barriers, stereo equipment and safety flooring. The "Players," as they are called, work toward producing two plays as well as an end-of-year variety show. Additionally, Players compete against other school programs in the Bergen County Teen Arts Festival. Each year, Barnstable Academy returns from the Teen Arts Festival with talent awards, which are displayed in the studio.
