Summer Reading Program

The reading program will focus on comprehension skills, decoding skills, and word identification strategies. Through daily reading students will practice and improve summarizing, making predictions, inferring, visualization, and other reading techniques. Decoding and word identification skills also include syllabication, root words, and affix study. Students will also work on improving fluency through repeated readings and poetry readings.

Spanish Retention Program

Want to make sure the long summer doesn't leave you oxidado? Then sign up to Barnstable's Foreign Language Retention Program! Students of Spanish will dive into free-form lessons that focus on oral fluency and comprehension, allowing them to express themselves on a whole new level. Oral competency is the discipline most closely-related to student motivation and achievement, so why let the summer drain you of all the progress you made this year?
