Barnstable Academy Celebrates Seniors College Commitment Day

(Oakland, New Jersey - April 26, 2022) Barnstable Academy’s high school seniors will celebrate the next step of their post-secondary education, with a carnival-themed decision day celebration this Friday.

Barnstable is a small college prep in Oakland, New Jersey, which provides a relationship-based approach to education in a warm and supportive environment where middle and high school students achieve their best socially, emotionally, and academically.

“We are beyond proud of our seniors whose college acceptances and scholarship awards continue to pour in,” said Ashley Crowley, Barnstable Academy Head of School. “We know where to attend college is a tough decision, we are confident that they will choose the right school for them, and we want to celebrate their decisions with them!”

Barnstable Academy’s current senior class of 28 is one of the largest in its 42-year history. Graduating seniors were accepted to 78 colleges and or universities that included more than $4 million in scholarships. A sampling of their acceptances include:

  • State universities in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
  • Private universities: Brandeis, DePaul, Embry Riddle Aeronautical, George Washington, Howard, St. John’s, Seton Hall, and Temple.
  • Private colleges: Eckerd, Kings, Emerson, Hartwick, Ithaca, Marist, Skidmore, Union, and Wells.
  • Specialty colleges: Colorado School of Mines, New York Film Academy, NYU Tisch – School of the Arts, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Barnstable utilizes small sizes, with no more than 14 students in a class to enable teachers to focus more intently on each student, compared to a traditional larger classroom. The school’s layout is designed to foster social and academic opportunities, and the class schedule reflects optimal times of learning core academic classes and electives.
